How to make chocolate hazelnut granola?
Making chocolate hazelnut granola is not difficult, but it does require some preplanning. You will need to gather the following ingredients:
- Rolled oats: I used gluten-free rolled oats for this recipe, but you can use regular rolled oats if you prefer. Rolled oats are a great source of fibre and protein, and they’re also low in sugar.
- Hazelnuts: If you’re looking for a nutty, flavorful addition, nuts are a great option! Hazelnuts are full of vitamin E and are great for your skin and hair. If you can’t find hazelnuts, you could also try almonds or pecans.
- Desiccated coconut: to add sweetness and flavour to this hazelnut granola recipe.
- Chia seeds: I used chia seeds to add protein. If you can’t find chia seeds, you could also use sunflower or pumpkin seeds.
- Cocoa Powder: I used cocoa powder to add a rich chocolate flavour. I love using cocoa powder in baked goods because it really amplifies the chocolate flavour.
- Syrup: I used maple syrup in this recipe to add a touch of sweetness. You can substitute the syrup for honey or agave nectar to sweeten.
- Dark chocolate: I used 70% dark chocolate in this recipe to add some extra richness and depth of flavour. If you’re looking for a really intense chocolate flavour, I would recommend using 85% chocolate. You can also use chocolate chips
To make the chocolate hazelnut granola, you need to start with a dry mixture. The dry mixture consists of oatmeal, hazelnuts, coconut, a pinch of salt, and chia seeds. In order to add the chocolate flavour, you will need cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Then add the wet ingredients: coconut oil and maple syrup.
How to store chocolate hazelnut granola?
If you’re anything like me, you’re obsessed with this delectable chocolate hazelnut granola. But how should you store it to make sure you can use it for as long as possible? Make sure the granola is initially stored in an airtight container. This will keep it vibrant and stop it from staleness. Storage in a cool, dry environment will prevent the granola from melting or becoming overly soft. Thirdly, make sure to tightly seal the container to prevent the granola from drying out.

Easy Vegan Chocolate hazelnut Granola | Gluten-free recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup hazelnuts chopped
- 3 cups oatmeal
- ¼ cup desiccated coconut unsweetened
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp sea salt
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract optional
- ½ cup dairy-free chocolate optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 170° Celsius. In a food processor or large bowl, combine the hazelnuts, oats, desiccated coconut, chia seeds, salt, and cocoa powder. Blend or combine the ingredients several times.
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt and combine the coconut oil and maple syrup.
- Pour the liquid over the dry ingredients and thoroughly combine. The oats and nuts will be broken down more in a food processor, resulting in a finer texture.
- Line a baking tray with parchment sheet, then pour and evenly spread the hazelnut granola mixture on it. Toast for 20-25 minutes (or until aromatic and deep golden brown), stirring halfway through.
- Allow it to cool completely to room temperature before serving. Then, add the dark chocolate. Store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
- Enjoy!
