Teff porridge

Easy, gluten-free Teff porridge breakfast meal, drizzled with cream, and syrup and topped with almonds and cherries.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup teff
  • 1 litre water
  • tsp salt
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • ¼ cup almonds chopped
  • ¼ cup cherries

Instructions

  • Start by rinsing the teff under cold water to remove any impurities. Drain well.
  • In a medium-sized saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  • Add the rinsed teff and salt to the boiling water, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid.
  • Allow the teff to simmer for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until it reaches a thick and creamy consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Once the teff is cooked, remove the pan from the heat and Stir in the almond milk and maple syrup, adjusting the sweetness to your liking.
  • Transfer the teff porridge to serving bowls and top with chopped almonds and cherries. Serve warm and enjoy!

CONSISTENCY
Stir the porridge regularly while it's cooking to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. If you find that the porridge is too thick, you can add more water to achieve your desired consistency.
