Simple morning green smoothie
A simple morning green smoothie made with lots of veggies and fruits – very nutritious and a great way to get more vitamins and minerals into your diet!
What’s so great about green smoothies?
You may have read about the great benefits of a healthy smoothie before, like improving your skin or boosting your energy level. But what exactly is so great about green smoothies? The main benefit of consuming green smoothies is that you’re increasing your intake of greens. You’re making it easier to meet your recommended servings of vegetables each day. You are fueling your body with goodness and it’s thanking you for it!
Drinking smoothies is a great way to start the day. They’re packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can help keep your immune system healthy. They are also an excellent source of fibre and can help you reach your recommended daily intake of vegetables.
These super drinks are also a great way to add more greens to your diet.
They are not just a good idea because they’re packed with nutrients. They’re also very easy to drink, especially if you don’t like eating regular salads or eating raw veggies on their own. With just a few ingredients and some blending time, you can have a delicious green smoothie that’s also good for you!
They’re also simple to make at home, so you don’t have to spend extra money on store-bought smoothies when you can create one in just a few minutes from ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
Also, a glass of green smoothie is preferable to a glass of green juice. Smoothies are high than juice, making them more nutritious.
Benefits of spinach
Spinach has many great health benefits, loaded with vitamins and minerals. Spinach is a green leafy vegetable rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules which are capable of preventing oxidation in the body. This simply means that they help to get rid of unfriendly properties which contribute to diseases.
It contains minerals such as potassium which helps to regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions and nerve signals in the body. It is also rich in mineral magnesium which has a role in supporting a healthy immune system. All these minerals help to maintain a healthy body which functions properly.
Benefits of Kale
Kale is a superfood that has many benefits for your health. It is rich in many essential nutrients, such as iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and K. It also has carotenoids, which are powerful antioxidants that protect your body from harmful free radicals, helping you fight against diseases and ageing.
How to make a smoothie
Before making a green smoothie for the first time, it’s important to understand how the blender works and what you’ll need to get the job done. When making a green smoothie, you’ll want to use an equal amount of liquid and fruit or vegetables. You can use plant milk, yoghurt, water, or even juice as your liquid. Blend your ingredients together in a blender on a high setting for about 30 seconds. You may have to stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula a few times to make sure everything gets blended together evenly.

Ingredients you can use to make a simple morning green smoothie
- Spinach – is a very common ingredient in green smoothies, as it adds a lot of flavours when mixed with other fruits and veggies. Spinach is an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium and fibre. Try to use fresh spinach for maximum benefits.
- Kale – Another leafy green that’s often used in green smoothies. Kale is very high in vitamins A and C, as well as iron. I like to use black kale, also known as “Cavolo Nero”. You can also just use kale or spinach instead of both.
- Fruit – use fresh fruit to make a sweeter smoothie. I like to use fresh fruits like avocados, mango or pineapple. You can also use frozen fruits like frozen pineapple, frozen banana or kiwis.
- Milk -use any milk of your choice like coconut milk or almond milk or yoghurt, as it adds creaminess and flavour to the drink. Use coconut cream for a more creamy texture.
Simple Morning Green Smoothie Variations
- Other leafy greens – You can also use chard, collard greens, or Swiss chard.
- Nuts and seeds (optional) – Add walnuts, almonds or flaxseeds, hemp seeds or chia seeds for added healthy fats, proteins and thickening.
- Other ingredients – You can take your smoothie to the next level by adding peanut butter, honey, cinnamon, protein powder and vanilla extract.

Followed it to the T and loved the results! I kept feeding in spinach until it was the lovely green color I wanted. I live in the subtropics so mango and banana are easy to find, but spinach will be out of season very soon. Do you have any ideas for what greens I can substitute for spinach? Thank you!
Hey Efan, I’m really glad you loved it 😊
Do you have access to beetroot leaves? if not, feel free to substitute the spinach with some carrots and turn it an orange smoothie.
